Star Field

Sit back and enjoy the view as stars flow across your page.

Two scripts are available that give you a choice of two viewpoints: one as you warp into space and one as you fly across space. These scripts have been adapted and modified from their original versions to work with Firefox, IE7, Opera, Safari for Windows and Google’s Chrome.

The “stars” in both scripts are placed dynamically on the page. When a SiteSpinner page is set to be horizontally centered in the browser window, this will cause the scroll bars to flicker. The scripts are best viewed when the page is not centered.

Warp View

The warp view is based on the scene from the Star Trek series where the stars would zip past the Enterprise as it jumped into different warp speeds. It is very similar to the Microsoft Starfield screen saver. This demo uses a non-centered page. To get this script running, copy the following code and place it in a code object.

The script contains two parameters whose values that you can adjust:

numb_s The number of start to display (default of 20).
speed_s The speed at which the stars move; 1 = slowest and 9 = fastest (default = 3).

The script contains code to place the star warp field behind all your others SiteSpinner objects, so it will always appear in the background. Because the stars are white, you should also use a dark colored page background (black is best).

Star Field

The star field view is similar to looking out a train window as the scenery passes by, only the view is stars instead of green pastures, mountains and cows. This demo uses a centered page. Run this script by placing the following code in a code object on your work page.

This script does not provide any useful user adjustable parameters. Like the warp view script, the stars are white, so you will need to use a dark page background color.
